A cool image showed up on my face book one day that a man took of Roz Savage when she arrived at Madang Papua New Guinea. I thought that it was a great image so I commented to the maker Jan Massersmith on FB. He has a very fun blog where he talks about life in paradise and shows amazing underwater images that he has taken. He invited me to be a "guest shooter" on his blog. : )

Jewel Ball 2010

Today I am packing up my camera bag and heading to the Nelson Art Gallery. This is my 4th year to help my good friend Mary Watkins photograph The Jewel Ball. I love photographing this event! It is like photographing 20-30 brides at one time. You will never see so many beautiful dresses in one place. Among other things, I have the wonderful job of capturing candid images in the dressing room as the girls are getting ready... So much fun for me!

It is amazing every year how they decorate for this event... Flowers and bouquets everywhere - it seems like every year they out do the year before.

Kaite's Senior Session! And I Love Horses.

OK... so being a horse lover and owner most all of my life it is probably obvious that I get excited when a Senior wants to bring their horse or in this case horses along for their photography session. Katie is a great rider and this session was a lot of fun!

Time to Celebrate!

The Heart of America and the Kansas Professional photographers annual convention took place April 10-12. I am very pleased to announce my results from the print competition.

For HOA I received: Best of show, 1st place, 2nd place, a Judges Ribbon and 3 merit print awards.

For Kansas I received: Best of show, 1st place, 2nd place and for the 3rd year in a row " Top 10 Kansas Professional Photographer" award.

A SPECIAL SESSION

While every session is fun and special in some way - a couple of weeks ago I had the opportunity to photograph my old baby sitter with her husband and brand new one week old baby.

I count it a blessing every time I am able to capture these milestones in peoples lives. I have known Lauren since she was about 4 years old so it was extra special!!

The American Heart Association Heart Ball

For a few years now I have donated portrait sessions and prints to the American Heart Association. This year I was able to attend their "Heart Ball" with an old friend of mine. Here are some of the pics from the Ball and my auction display.

My Daughter leaves for China

I took my daughter Courtney to the airport this morning! Many of you know her because she has helped me with my photography business in many areas since she was just 14. Now she is 20 and is headed to China for 6 months to study international business and Chinese. It is super cool how all of the details have worked out for her and this trip. She won scholarship money that has paid for her entire trip, met wonderful chinese people who are taking her under their wing and giving her a place to live and places to visit. Today another one of those "God coincidences" I call them happened. She was just about to go through the check in and a guy sitting a little ways away heard us mention that she was traveling to China. He is a 24 yr. old Harvard Grad who will be going to law school to study international law. in the mean time he is traveling to China to stay with his brother who lives in Beijing with his wife and baby. He and Courtney will travel all the way there on the same flights and get this.... they will both return in 6 months on Aug. 2nd at the same time on the same flights! They are both staying in beijin.

They got to sit with each other on the flight to chicago and they have a lot in common. As a mom I am very happy that she now knows someone that can keep her company on the long trip there and back again!
