Time to Celebrate!

The Heart of America and the Kansas Professional photographers annual convention took place April 10-12. I am very pleased to announce my results from the print competition.

For HOA I received: Best of show, 1st place, 2nd place, a Judges Ribbon and 3 merit print awards.

For Kansas I received: Best of show, 1st place, 2nd place and for the 3rd year in a row " Top 10 Kansas Professional Photographer" award.

A SPECIAL SESSION

While every session is fun and special in some way - a couple of weeks ago I had the opportunity to photograph my old baby sitter with her husband and brand new one week old baby.

I count it a blessing every time I am able to capture these milestones in peoples lives. I have known Lauren since she was about 4 years old so it was extra special!!

The American Heart Association Heart Ball

For a few years now I have donated portrait sessions and prints to the American Heart Association. This year I was able to attend their "Heart Ball" with an old friend of mine. Here are some of the pics from the Ball and my auction display.

My Daughter leaves for China

I took my daughter Courtney to the airport this morning! Many of you know her because she has helped me with my photography business in many areas since she was just 14. Now she is 20 and is headed to China for 6 months to study international business and Chinese. It is super cool how all of the details have worked out for her and this trip. She won scholarship money that has paid for her entire trip, met wonderful chinese people who are taking her under their wing and giving her a place to live and places to visit. Today another one of those "God coincidences" I call them happened. She was just about to go through the check in and a guy sitting a little ways away heard us mention that she was traveling to China. He is a 24 yr. old Harvard Grad who will be going to law school to study international law. in the mean time he is traveling to China to stay with his brother who lives in Beijing with his wife and baby. He and Courtney will travel all the way there on the same flights and get this.... they will both return in 6 months on Aug. 2nd at the same time on the same flights! They are both staying in beijin.

They got to sit with each other on the flight to chicago and they have a lot in common. As a mom I am very happy that she now knows someone that can keep her company on the long trip there and back again!

Maril's Senior Session

Maril's mom Malia and I have been friends since our tri - delta college days at K-state. Malia who is also a good photographer helps me out at the studio from time to time and has helped me out at a couple weddings. SO... it was really fun to photograph Maril who as you can see is very beautiful! We went to a small old town and convent that is close to the studio for part of her senior session. It is always fun for me to go to different locations to photograph. Maril was great! Here are a few of her images.

The Beautiful Sky on Nov 2nd

Kansas does not have mountains or an ocean but we do have beautiful sunsets.

I am very fortunate where I live to have a great view of the sunsets from my back yard.

The following are a few shots of last nights beautiful sky.

A couple of them are just as it was straight out of the camera the rest I enhanced in photoshop.

Lydsey's Senior Session

Lynsey's Senior session was really special. She lives right next to her grandparents out in the country. Her grandparents planted the sunflower patch especially for her senior picture session. The corn field and the pond is on their farm as well. I have fun playing with different effects on some images.... The truck images are examples of how the same image can look so different.

OUR NEW FUN TRUCK... PICTURE PERFECT!

We are so excited to have this new addition at the farm. The Truck is bright and colorful. Fun for kids of all ages and families too! Keep watching for more fun images!

MY SON REAGAN'S HEART

I HAD A LOT OF FUN ATTENDINGTHE KANSAS PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHERS FALL SEMINAR.

I learned a lot this weekend and got a lot of really fun great ideas! Can't wait to use them!

When I got home I asked my Son Reagan to mow the front pasture for me. A little later he called me out side and this is what he

did for me. : ) He is so sweet!

A FEW FUN IMAGES OF MY BACKYARD

I was sitting on my back deck yesterday. It had been raining.... The clouds were just starting to break up allowing a little bit of sunlight to shine down into my pasture. There was quite a bit of fog still in the air giving these images a kind of dreamy look.
